Fibre Muffins

I have a bit of a sweet tooth, and love muffins. With my early mornings I have no time to make breakfast, and often no time to prepare snacks, so I enjoy preparing meals ahead of time to ensure I get tasty and adequate nutrition. One of my favourte snacks are PC Blue Menu Carrot Pineapple Bran Muffins. According to the package they have 170kcal, .05g fat 33g carbs ( 9g fibre, 14g sugar), and 4g protein. I always doctor the mix. Today I added 2/3 cup Fibre One Twigs, omitted the 2 eggs and used 3 egg whites, and omitted the 1tbsp oil, but added 2 ripe bananas. Sometimes I add pureed beets and carrots, or sugar free apple sauce instead of the bananas. I also make 15-16 muffins instead of the recommended 12, so the calorie and carb count is a little smaller.
I dont like that the muffins have brown sugar as the second ingredient, but their convience and amazing taste, along with decent nutritional profile make them ok in my books. For the average person I would say go ahead, for those on a competition diet, maybe reconsider for the off season, depending on your goals. I had one today for breakfast with a scoop of whey with matcha in water, and it powered me through1 client and then an hour of legs and back!
